Catalogue
of the Lepidoptera of Belgium

Charissa obscurata ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)

A very rare species in Belgium, known from the Kempen and the southern part of the country.

The larva lives on a variety of herbaceous plants, but with a preference for Calluna vulgaris. Hibernates as a small larva near the base of the food plant. Pupates on the ground amongst plant debris or in earth.

The adults fly in one generation a year; from mid July till early September. They are active from dusk onwards and later attracted to light.
