What is the CGCT?
The Center for Grammar, Cognition and Typology was established in 1999 and unites linguists from the University of Antwerp, assembled around the study of grammar, more specifically, the relationship between morphosyntactic and semantic structure, from a functional-cognitive point-of-view. Their research follows two tracks:

on the one hand 'in-depth' work on selected linguistic problems in the individual Germanic and Romance languages (with special emphasis on Dutch, English, and German, and on French and Italian) by means of inter alia corpus-analysis and experiments

on the other hand the study of the same phenomena in a larger context, i.e. through typological research into the variation between languages and dialects, at the 'local level' of the Germanic and Romance languages, as well as at the more remote levels of the languages of Europe and of the world, against a background of classical Greenberg typology and areal typology (contact convergence)
Both lines of investigation take the synchronic as well as the diachronic dimension into consideration.
The CGCT houses the editorial office of Linguistics.
