RECENT RESEARCH TOPICS
At present, bird singing is the best animal model for human speech, with striking similarities between human language acquisition and bird song learning. In this PhD-project, the focus lies on the sensitive period for the acquisition of these learned vocalizations in Zebra Finches (Taeniopygia guttata). The sensitive period for song learning in the Zebra Finch is both studied at the behavioral and at the neural level, using different techniques including auditory fMRI.
